Cannot Etrude PETG

About a month ago, I ordered and installed a new "assembled hotend." It was very easy to install. Printing went on as normal. Except, I find I cannot print PETG, it simply will not extrude even at 290 degrees.

I can print easily and accuractly any PLA (which I usually print at 240 then 230. I am able to get some exquisitely good parts that way.

Can anyone figure out the problem? Is the thermostat faulty?

Don’t give up. My stock Mini prints PETG as well as, if not better than, PLA. No tweaking. Completely standard settings in Prusa Slicer for Prusament PETG. I can’t offer specific help for your problem except to say that your Mini is very capable when it comes to PETG.

Odd.  What is it doing?  Will it extrude if you feed the filament by hand?

yes, it will extrude if I feed by hand. As a background, I have been successfully printing with PETG since last April. It is just not working now, since I installed the new hotend.

Which hotend and extruder?  If it feeds manual, it has to be an extruder or motor issue.  I think.

Since it will feed by hand then it may be the tension on the extruder gear or there may be something partially clogging the extruder gear.

If you unload the filament, disconnect the PTFE between the extruder driver and the  head, do a load filament with PETG.  You should be able to see if the drive is advancing the PETG filament.  You will need to do an unload filament to extract the filament again before putting it back together.

The MINI+ 3D PRINTING HANDBOOK, page 40, 10.10 Clogged/jammed extruder shows the location of the idler screw.  This screw has a spring to adjust the tension.  When I received my Mini+ the idler screw was adjusted to minimal pressure and it would not feed PETG but would feed PLA.

If you look in the view window you can also see if the extruder gear is clogged at all.

This is absolutely something to check.
