Maybe worth if you are thinking about permanent octolapse use. Just for monitoring I use a cheap clone of the RaspiCam with 5MP and that is absolutely enough.

I use the stock Pi 5MP camera and it works fine for me.

I have one of the Pi HQ cameras. The image quality from is is VERY good, but I have not tried using it for octoprint. I run octoprint on a Pi Zero W. which is perfectly fine for remote/network printing, but almost certainly wouldn't support something like octolapse. I picked up my HQ camera to use as a USB webcam. This video will show you the quality of them as well

Same here, I've used the stock RPI Cam module for a few projects, but never the HQ version.  I figure if I really need HQ, I'll use a more traditional camera.  The stock RPI Cam actually produces pretty fair photos. I say better than many phones and certainly better than many of the 'last generation' P&S digital cameras.

Here's a 'spy cam' I made a while back.  PI Zero, Cam module, battery and little power/charger board.

(And if you are observant and noticed that the texture on the printed part does not look like Prusa, you're right.  It was done on a Uprint at the local 'makerspace' a couple years ago.)

I can't see any benefit to an HQ camera for Octoprint, but I suppose it depends on what you want.  I use the camera mainly for seeing if the printer is printing correct and that the item I am printing has stuck to the bed.  If you want to make high resolution movies of your printing, great.  I would personally be bored to tears.  Sort of like watching grass grow.

In any case, I wouldn't put any money into a better camera.  I have other areas where I would spend more money such as an enclosure or a better all-metal hotend, although I don't need either right now.

Nice project - do you have some further information about that? How long is that running on the battery?

The 'spy cam' was one project that was being passed around at the local 'makerspace' a while back.  I should have the .stl files somewhere, but I may or may not be able to find them easily.  If you want them I'll try to look.  I made a few tweaks to the project, one was a hollow cylinder on the rear, above the clip, for holding a shoelace lanyard to wear around the neck.  Another was to add a simple 'mount' for a generic wide-angle adapter lens.

The code that I used is trivial.  Just a 'forever' loop in a shell script to take a photo, store it, wait a while, sync the file system, rinse, repeat.  It's also possible to log in to the thing via a cell phone and manually take photos.

It runs a few hours on one charge.

Yes, the blue board is from Adafruit.  It's one of the 'Power Boost' series.  There are a number of similar products in the series, some with a charger, others which only power the project from an already-charged battery.  IIRC the one pictured is the PB 500C.  It will efficiently boost the voltage from a common 3.7v battery to 5 volts for the project.  They are not cheap, but still reasonable.  Here's a link to the first similar one I found this morning:

Another very handy similar item, if you do Pi Zero projects is their 'buck converter' which is indeed small and cheap and converts 6-21v from a battery or DC supply to 5v for the project without wasting power or producing (much) heat, as you would get with a simpler 7805 type regulator.

I just take off the USB connector and wire them in.  I use them for running big PIs off 24 V or 12V.  They work great.  MUCH cheaper than Adafruit.

The PIs have a buck converter on board to take the 5V and convert it to 3.3V for the processor.

That kinda looks like the Canon Ivy Rec sports camera.
