Automating printing
Hi,
Wonder whether I could get some guidance.
We have a model built in scad with some user input variables which creates an STL.
I want to print this through our Prusa printers in the simplest way possible.
Can I open Prusa Slicer with the generated STL?
Can Prusa Slicer print directly to the Prusa MK4 or upload to Prusa Connect?
Using this solution with users with less 3D printing knowledge and therefore want to make it straightforward.
I hope someone has some good answers to help guide me.
Thanks
Andy

Yes

In effect, yes - but this isn't the simplest way. The simplest way is to copy the gcode to a USB drive and print from that.
However, if you start simple and elaborate by stages it shouldn't be more than a few weeks before you have all the elements working together smoothly.
Cheerio,
RE: Automating printing
Thanks for this.
You say we can open Prusa Slicer with STL code, can you explain how or point to another thread.
Thanks
This is a function of your operating system - it is the OS that associates any particular filetype with a default application.
Search for:
'associate filetype with application' - and your operating system
Many applications prompt for this at install time. On some operating systems you may need root privilege to authorise it globally.
Most allow a per user association; on the version of Linux I am using to type this, for example, I right click on an STL file, select 'Set run action' from my file menu, choose PrusaSlicer and for ever more a single click on any STL opens it in the slicer.
Cheerio,
