Z lift with PrusaSlicer 2.7.1

Hello,

I am using a Prusa mini. I am trying to print my name on a square using 3 colors. I'm not finding a way using v2.7.1. I am pretty new at this. I think I am missing something. I believe Z lift is a factor. Any help would get great. I didn't find anything on Youtube that was helpful.

Thanks

RE: Z lift with PrusaSlicer 2.7.1

There are basically two ways to print multi color on a Mini, short of adding a hardware solution such as a Mosaic Palette.  Both involve manual color swaps.

The easiest is to print the different colors at different layers. So you could have a few layers of one color, then a few with another color, etc. By carefully designing the heights of your model elements you can print your name in three colors. Say you want to print Sam. You could do a rectangle of one color as a base for say 5 layers. Then the S would be two layers higher then the base, the A four layers, and the M six layers higher. You swap filament for the S, then for the A, and then the M. A and M would have layers of the other colors below but when looking from above you won't see them.
In Prusaslicer's preview click on the plus sign on the vertical slider to add filament swaps.

The other method is more complicated and requires a lot more swaps but it allows you to change colors within one layer. See https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3s-mk3-how-do-i-print-this-printing-help/acting-as-my-own-mmu for an overview. There are many discussion threads here to this effect.
