Why don't Print settings save with the project?

When I'm working on a complex print, I set up a bunch of options for the specific part I'm printing like how the perimeters and seams should work, and how support should be configured and built.  And now we've got this fancy `.3mf` file format which I thought is supposed to save all the things.  But it clearly doesn't, because when I save my project and then try to quit out of PrusaSlicer, it says I have all these settings that aren't saved.

I think if I hit "save" then it will modify the defaults for my printer - how is that the right thing?  Does that really make sense for anybody?  I mean, when I change things about layers & perimeters and support and infill, that's just for this project - not how I want my printer to work forever going forwards.  I suppose I could have a different "printer config" for every project.  But how is that better than just saving the print settings with the project?  It seems like "print settings" and "printer settings" are confusingly mixed up.

It does save all your settings with the project.

The question asked at the end is related to saving changes to the *print profile*, not the project. You can say no to preserve the original print settings but the 3mf will contain all  your modifications.
