Why doesn't it accept 0.3 as a height range modifier?
My model has a height of 17mm. I would like to print the first mm at a 0.1 layer height and the rest at 0.3mm. Somehow it doesn't seem to accept 0.3 as a value. So I went from 0.1 to 0.2 and this works. But it's still doesn't accept 0.3 when i put it as the next layer.. what am i missing here? When I put 0.3 it will auto adjust to 0.2
I noticed in the prusaslicer kb that they do enter 0.3 as a layer height.

Far too many settings that interact to tell from a picture of the height range modifier window. We would need your saved project file. Use File>Save Project As in PS which will save a .3mf file. A 3mf project file from PS contains the model(s) but also more importantly all the settings you are using from all 3 profiles.
Then ZIP up the 3mf and attach it here. It must be zipped or the forum wont accept it. The forum has a very limited number of allowed file types.
RE:
Actually the most likely reason is under Printer Settings>Extruder 1>Layer Height Limits>Max. What's in there ? 0.25 I'd be guessing if you have a MK3. That value defines the max layer height for the extruder and its also used for the variable layer height tool

Yup it turned out to be this setting. At the risk of sounding like a newbie: but how come when this value it set to its default of 0.25 i can still make prints on 0.3, just not with the height range modifier?
RE: Why doesn't it accept 0.3 as a height range modifier?
You would have to ask one of the software developers why its that way. Its been like that since slic3r days, so before Prusa branched it and turned it into PS. There are quite a few little inconsistencies like that. Thgings that have been that way forever. Some settings check others for limits but many of the basic ones (like layer heights from a main profile) don't. Same with the tooltips, most of the defaults mentioned in those are from years and years ago and bare little relevance to what is used on a 'modern' printer.
It's why we ask for attached project files as there are so many things that do (and don't when you expect they would), depend on other settings. With a project we at least have a chance of figuring things out 🙂

Thanks for you reply! I will include the project file next time I have a question.. but this one is solved! Thanks!
