Why does bridge infill's edge over empty space?

I have an issue that the bridge infill on their edge is happening over empty space. This leads to various problems from time to time, and now again.

What I'm doing wrong and how can avoid this?

Goal: I would like to have the bridge infill always starts and ends on a proper edge underneath it.

It's supposed to be that way, this is normal.  You most likely have a wall or other structure that will be printed on top of that area and this allows the infill to continue beyond that surface while saving time and material. There is no real benefit to be had by continuing to the perimeter. The bridge fill should normally print past the area that the next layers will print on top of enough so that there is no hole or gap.

Got it. Correct, there will be a wall printed on top of that area.

The negativ effect I have observed is, that the edge in the air sometime doesn't fall down, but instead lifts up a bit and collides with the nozzle. If the bridge infill would always print till the next wall of the internal infill, then this would prevent such issue, I think.

You can make a tighter infill near the edge of the part using a modifier in PrusaSlicer: https://help.prusa3d.com/en/article/modifier-meshes-custom-supports-and-other-magic_114258

This way you can have less printing in the air and better adhesion to the bottom infill without increasing a lot the print time or the amount of plastic needed to print your part.

I don't know what material your using, but this is normally a function of cooling. If Misan's suggestion doesn't fix this for you, you might try adjusting the heat to cooling ratio. If that doesn't work I can show you a method that will allow you to print to the outer perimeter. I say again this shouldn't be necessary for the application as described.

I wish you luck.
