Why am I getting Overhang Perimeter on Bottom Layer???

Totally new so sorry if this is a dumb question.  I have printed maybe 20 prints so far and this is the first time I noticed this.

The 2nd layer of a model I got from thingiverse here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3313566 is giving me trouble while printing. It is not squishing to the bed when printing.

On close inspection of the slicer, the 1st layer is making solid infill (purple) for hollow sections (why???) and the 2nd layer is registering as overhang perimeter (Blue)...again why????

To fix this, I lowered the model in prusa slicer by 1mm through the print bed and all problems went away.  I'm just curious if I am doing something wrong or if this is a glitch?

Does this happen when you slice this model too?

See attached photo.

Thanks in advance!

The .stl had errors which I was able to repair in Meshmixer. The Slicer did its best to repair the errors, but that repair process distorted the model to one that was not flat on the bottom. BTW, Meshmixer is free and useful to have.

Most likely the model that you downloaded isn't flat on the bottom. dropping it into the bed had the effect of cutting it flat.

I'm going by the image you posted.

Good Luck

Ok thanks!  I suspected it was a model problem.  I hadn't heard of meshmixer yet.
