Where is the Windows Installer?

Running PrusaSlicer for 1-1/2 years.  I am getting a pop-up for an upgrade so I download the zip and it only contains the executable and library files.  No windooz installer.  I don't remember having to manually install this thing(?)

I googled around to see if there was some announcement about dropping the Windows package.  I visited all the usual places (Github, Downloads Page) and they only have the .zip file with distribution files.  I googled to see if anybody posted directions on manual installation and the Youtubes all show a download / execute installer process.

What am I missing?   I really don't want to have to manually install the thing.  I don't do that for the other 4 slicers on my machine.

Unfortunately the policy is that they only post installers for major version releases near as I can tell.  This version is quite old.   Other slicers release an installer based version for every update.  Prusaslicer uses a Linux-centric approach to Windows which is a mess because it doesn't take into account the registry and all the other windows system stuff (which I am not surprised about since it has never played that well with Windows).

RE:

They provide full installers for the approved patch releases. Lot of builds are pre-release as just exe only, not intended for general audience ( thus they are as zipped exes on github)

RE: Where is the Windows Installer?

I hadn't noticed that Prusa had released a public beta on github yet. Thanx for the accidental notification. 😉

Historically the files that Prusa releases on the public github are designed to be run from the folder that you uncompress the .zip file to. (I usually unzip to a folder on my desktop.) This allows you to test out potentially buggy software while preserving your official release install for mission critical work. Github is really targeted to the more techy folks. The final releases for each version as published on the https://help.prusa3d.com/downloads page are the installers to properly install into your system. The web page targets the general population.
