Where are my custom materials?

Hello, I just updated to the latest version of prusa slicer on mac.

It seems to have detected my old settings and imported them (although there is a new weird printer named after one of my profiles), but I can not find the materials I set up. How can I find them? Where are they stored?

Did you update to a beta or normal version?

I don't use Mac's so I'm not sure what happened with the install, however if you have an previous project file with the settings in it, you can load that file and retrieve the settings that way.

what is a project file exactly? Do you mean a saved sliced STL or is something different?

RE: Where are my custom materials?

A Project file is created when you use File>Save Project (or save project As).  This creates a .3mf file.  3mf files are a generic standard but PS stores inside the models, their placement, any modifiers, variable layer heights, support painting,  the profiles and settings currently in use when you save etc.  They are basically a snapshot of your environment at the time.

They are the single best way to save and recall work.  They are also great for debugging issues and getting help and suggestions as it allows anyone to see the full range of factors in play.  Its why we pretty much always ask for a zipped up saved project when people ask for help.

You can not only load them in to restore a session, you can also use the import options to load in the settings from them into your current workspace (so not load in the models from the project).

They are chronically under used by most people.
A bit like the Config Bundle option.  When you save a Config Bundle it saves out any custom profiles you may have.  This bundle can be imported in on any machine at a later date.  They are good for backups in case you lose your entire pc or if you want to copy all your custom ones to a second machine.  They DO NOT save any of the built in system ones though.  As those can always be restored through the install wizard.
