Vase mode issues

Hello, I am having issues printing in vase mode from a custom profile, which I haven't had before. The built-in profiles do not have this error when slicing this geometry.

I am trying to print this geometry:

I am having this error:

It is on the "4th layer" for some reason

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

RE: Vase mode issues

Are you getting a warning from the slicer that that the .stl file is messed up in any way? (the white exclamation point triangle in the screenshot)

RE: Vase mode issues

When I open that geometry its obviously not a Prusa slicer generated 3mf file as your profiles for printer and filament etc are not loaded, it keeps the ones I already have selected.

For me it slices perfectly.  Even after I make sure Im in vase mode.  Thats with a Mk3 printer profile, an SV08 profile and an elegoo neptune 3 max profile.

This again illustrates why you should ALWAYS post your prusa slicer project file when asking for help debugging an issue.  It is likely  some setting in your profile(s).  Without that data as well its impossible to track down any issue.  You need to generate the error then use File>Save Project as.  While the file will still be a 3mf file it will also contain all the settings for the 3 profiles you are using.

Sorry about that; here is the exported project from PrusaSlicer Geometry Help

After loading your PrusaSlicer generated .3mf with your settings I experienced exactly what you described. First I looked at the geometry (the model itself) to test that it was manifold. While the model wasn't registering any errors in 4 different modeling software's that I checked with, the 5th showed 152 open edges. In my Autodesk products I was able to notice what looked like Flipped Normals, and what appeared to be doubled polygons in some areas although they did not report as such.

I'm only mentioning all this as a point of interest, as I would have expected the errors to be called out as obvious.

Anyway all the aforementioned is moot, the fix for this in Slic3r is easy.

Go to,

Print Settings>[Slicing]> Slicing Mode: change it to (Close holes).  That will repair the model for "Spiral vase:" printing, I would consider if I were printing this, setting "Elephant foot compensation:" to Zero as well as adding a Brim of some sort.

Good luck, hope this helps
