Variable layer height question

I tried using the variable layer height on a OBJ file and the feature is not available, This is only available on a STL..?

Not as far as I can see.  I don't normally use .obj format so I created a simple cube in Blender, exported as .obj and then loaded it into PS.  The variable layer height works with it.

Please save the project file you are having trouble with. File>Save Project As.  This will save your PS session as a 3mf file.  The 3mf will contain not only your object but all the settings you are using.  Its like a snapshot.

Then zip up the 3mf file and attach it to a post here.  It must be zipped or the forum will not accept the file.  Thats needed for all file types except pics pretty much.

Using a 3mf project is the standard way of debugging issues here as there are so many settings or other possible variables like model qualityetc that things could be down to.

Quick thought: Can you still export the build plate as an STL?

I just did a quick test using the Standford Bunny in .obj format with PrusaSlicer 2.3.1 on MacOS. I am able to use the variable layer height feature normally. You might try File->Export->Export->Export plate as STL and see if the STL works normally. The STL might need repair.

Save your current  3MF project file, zip it up, and attach it to a reply here so we can see your part & settings and give better recommendations.

I can import a STL file and slice as usual, in the file I noticed there was some slight gaps while I was in the slicer so I used the slicers fix file feature and it said to save it as a OBJ.

I haven’t use that feature before so I’m not sure if there’s something I missing that’s causing it not to be able to slice as a variable height or ??

When I get a chance I will upload the file.

Ah, if the STL had errors, that may explain it. I don't use Windows, but you might try using NetFabb to fix the STL if so. You might ring up @joantabb as she's got a lot of experience and good advice on repairing STLs this way. (I pull defective STLs into ideaMaker as it has good repair capabilities, but that's a whole 'nother topic.)
