True Color Mixing and Ability to Save color Tools to allow for 4in1 out color mixing and gradients.
Hi all!
I wanted to leave this here. I've left it elsewhere.
However, I feel it's a missed opportunity for Prusa to take complete advantage of.
Currently Zonestar Z9V5 and other 4in1out color options could take complete advantage to these features if implanted.
These features come from Voxelizer 2 Experimental by Zmorph - who no longer supports the slicer.
It allows for true 4in1 out color mixing. With the proper filament load, which right now I find Transparent Blue, Red, Orange, and Opaque White have been the best to avoid tooth pasting among a % percentage mix, if done correctly within ratios.
It has the ability to add Tool Heads within a % Mix. So for the Zonestar's ability to do true 4in1-out mixing at 25/25/25/25 we have the ability to mix upwards to 12 main colors with varying shades in between. Also allowing for gradient mixes to be created and used.
If we had a WYSIWYG easy to use color wheel to be able to add color swatches to, collect and save...possibly even share with others, would be amazing!
This wat other future Mixing heads could add Tools in order to have 5, 6, or more mixing into their future heads if they are created.
There is option for "purge to model"
There is also a feature to "image project" like a tattoo on the skin of the Model. Allows for easy colorizing.
We can hopefully produce similar result like the following if Prusa allows for the above features or similar to them.
If some of these features are already available to us and I'm simple blind to any of them. I'd love to a link to some form of tutorial.
Otherwise, I welcome the and thank the consideration of these ideas into a future release and am 100% open to beta testing fully.
Thanks!

That would have been more appropriate to the Mk2 with MMU1, which had 4 separate extruders.
However the multiplexor for the stepper motors would have been a bottleneck, and the extruder would have needed swapping to a mixing extruder

Sure - but this is more about Prusaslicer implementation for a Zonestar Z9V5 that is already supported, just in a limited way compared to how it could be used.
It would expand the slicer beyond its current coloring options, into more mixing and a visual addition. Either way, I'm just trying to get it more seen from Prusa support over all, so that the idea is visually somewhere - the topic or where it could be properly supported could vary. Should I move this elsewhere to be seen?

leave this here, and raise the idea on Prusa Slicer Github, then you can reference this post.
the developers spend more time on github, than here!

It always astonishes me how much effort people will go to to avoid painting their trinkets.
...and this is a needlessly complex method requiring very precisely manufactured filaments - simpler might be to implement an inkjet head to wrap photographic textures. Most users will only ever need two, perhaps three contrasting filaments and actually mixing filaments in the extuder is a recipe for chaos. Imagine the result if a gcode like this is run by mistake when PLA, PETG, PVA and CFnylon happen to be loaded.
Cheerio,
RE: True Color Mixing and Ability to Save color Tools to allow for 4in1 out color mixing and gradients.
I much rather hand paint my own prints in all honesty.
With this features implemented though, it would really open the software beyond it's current abilities. Which no other supported slicers currently offer in such a way.
If you think beyond your own needs, and just having it open to people who do desire or need it, it's a game changer for the current industry.
Either way - think of true MMU abilities. I was using a 2in1out to mix TPU and PETG 50/50 into a hybrid material which really worked in more rigidity robustness but also flex final print. Yes - I can currently do this inside Prusaslicer, but...not so much in a visual mixing aspect like I'm suggested to be implemented. My request is more of turning Prusaslicer into an color pallet for true color mixing.
Regardless of you're idea of trouble it could cause, many of us use these heads and are well aware of how they can become troublesome. However again, I stress that slicers abilities to work with them how they can be used and intended are not supported currently like they could be, in order to expand the abilities of what is on the market.
RE: True Color Mixing and Ability to Save color Tools to allow for 4in1 out color mixing and gradients.
Hello. One of my printers also has 4 extruders and a common mixing nozzle. On it and my other normal printer I know how to adjust colors on different layers or details, I do sometimes.
But I have the same need described in the thread.Possibility of full-width printing.Load the 4 primary colors into each extruder and have the slicer mix the ratios to the actual color of the object. For example, I have a 3D scanner. I scan the object in its real colors (a person with clothes for example) and have the slicer generate the necessary code to mix and print the object in the necessary worlds, rather than paint it.I know it won't be perfect, but still having such an option would be great...

hi, I would also like to have a slicer that creates the correct mix from a 3D color file from the 4 of the hotend mix, I saw that in the example you visualize that "jewel of program" Voxelizer Experimental (discontinued/abandoned), but unfortunately I can no longer use it due to the login verification (the server is no longer there), have you found any solution to continue using it?
RE:
as an alternative to prusa there is SuperSlicerMx-2-4-58-5-1 which gives the possibility of activating multiple tools with the mix setting for each one, of course there is nothing like experimental Voxelizer unfortunately
