TPU settings - retraction
I'm setting up PrusaSlicer for use with TPU (Mk4).
I have read a suggestion to get successful prints, is to set "detraction speed" to 25.
I can't find "detraction" speed settings, only "retraction" or "deretraction" settings so am trying to work out what the reference to "detracttion" would relate to.
I also notice in PrusaSlicer there are sections for "retraction" and "deretraction" speeds in 2 places:
- "Printer Settings-Extruder 1" , and
- "Filament Overrides"
........but default values are different.
For TPU changes, which section would I be changing?
RE: TPU settings - retraction
The ones under the Printer are general default ones, set a value suited for your hardware.
The ones under filament profiles are exactly what they are called - over rides. They Over Ride the default with whatever is set there. PS uses this technique for several settings in various places, Volumetric Flow being an example.
Retraction( Length and Speed settings ) is the process of pulling back the filament away from the part and into the extruder. To stop it leaking out etc. Deretraction (speed & extra length) is the process of feeding it back out from the extruder towards the nozzle.
The basic General Settings are again under Printer>Extruder while there are over rides under the filament profile.
There is no Detraction. It is REtraction and DEREtraction.
