Well, I noticed how a few of my parts failed because the layout of the filament was not compatible with the forces involved. It seems the only control I have is the outer layer of the port. Is there a way to change the layout direction so I can get the layout to be compatible with the forces? For instance, if I create a gear, I don't need 1/2 of the teeth to be subjected to horizontal shear. The only thing to prevent that is the two or three filament layers of the outer skin. Is there a more configurable method to change the internal layout?

Simplest is to change the orientation of the print on the bed. A gear, for example, will normally do best if laid flat on the print sheet.
