Supports placement

I am planning to print a large-ish box that has vertical holes in its walls. They are quite big and I am going to print it in PETG so just relying on bridging is not an option.

The problem with supports is that PrusaSlicer generates them on both sides of a wall and not just on the top surface so the model now takes up even more space on my print bed. Cura, on the other hand, places the supports exactly the way I need them to be.

Is there some option in PrusaSlicer I missed that allows me to do that?

The upcoming release of PrusaSlicer 2.4 includes options for tighter support. It is currently in Alpha3.

Instead of waiting for v2.4 (which is indeed excellent), you can also try paint-on supports. Go with a very small brush size and only hit the inside of the top part of the hole. The moment you touch the outer edges, you'll get the supports you're seeing now. You may also have to make some adjustments in the support settings to make it work. If you could post the STL,  that would make it easier to make specific recommendations.

What Fushsr said. You just need to constrain you support within the wall thickness. Either paint on or support enforcer should work if you set supports to none.

RE: Supports placement

Thank you for your great suggestions. I did try to paint the inside of the top of the hole only and it does work. It is a little unpredictable but it can be done.

Looking forward to the release of v2.4. Sound amazing!

2.4 Alpha3

I wouldn't gererally recommend Beta's let alone Alpha's but 2.4 Alpha3 seems to be stable (and awesome BTW).
