Support not breaking off easily

I am finding that I really have to dig and pry to get my support material off my projects.  What option should I change in the PrusaSlicer to help correct this?

im guessing "Contact Z distance" and "XY Seperation...".  Contact Z is currently 0.1mm and XY Seperation is 50%.
Thought I would ask you guys before I send another round of prints through as I am now have qty 4 of 4hr prints that I have thrown away.

You have come to the right place, and if the search function on this forum actually worked worth a damn you could have found one of the many posts about this very issue 🙂

The contact z distance of 0.1 is way too close. For a normal 0.4mm nozzle you want to set that to 0.2-0.25 if you want easy removal.  That alone is the critical change.  Anything else is personal preference.

Personally I set the x/y separation to 70% (but it varies on the model im supporting), I set the interface layers to 4 and I set the spacing to 2.5-3mm.

The other thing you can alter is the support angle, especially if you are supporting bridges, as you want to make sure the support goes at 90 degrees to the bridge layer its supporting.  So you can use the preview to check the layers.  You basically dont want it going the same direction.  Even 30-45 degrees offset can help.  its worth trying different stuff and reslicing to see what supports look best in the previews and just make sure you go through the layers and check before printing.

Yea....I tried to search function as I was 100% sure this had already been answered, but as you stated...the search function here is a bit...lacking.

I will try these adjustment as soon as I can.  Leaving for a trip this weekend, but will get back to printing again on Monday.
Thanks for the advice.

@neophyl

I had a new project to print and tried your settings.

I changed the Contact Z Distanse to .25, Pattern Spacing to 3, and XY seperation got 70% and the supports pulled right off clean and easy.

Thanks for the info.
