Suggestion to make first layer easier with wrong distance

Hello.

So, when printing the first layer with the nozzle to close to the bed it will be completely fine for a few lines while the plastic builds up in front of the lines. It will go to a point where it will start to curl up from the bed and the underside will be weird and even the next layer will have some artifacts depending on how wrong the z distance is.

My proposed solution would be to only print every other line, then go over again and print the rest. This way the plastic will never build up as a wave in front of the lines laid down, and the spare plastic will be more evenly distributed over the entire surface. This would take a little more time to print, but I do believe that the added adhesion, or at least more even adhesion, would be worth it if you don't have a 100% calibrated printer. The underside would also aesthetically be more pleasing in my eyes that those random waves.

It would not need to be the default bottom infill, but it would be nice to have as an option.

While the suggestion could possibly work, I think it is a bad idea to implement it. If the printer isn't correctly calibrated and configured, then that is what needs to be done. Creating a slicer "crutch" to alleviate plain user error is not a good idea. Sorry.

Agreed. Calibration takes a few minutes and doesn't need frequent adjustment until you make hardware changes. Proper calibration nwill give the best results.

@mroek @bobstro

To clarify. I do not have this problem with any of my Prusa machines, but I do have it with my Sidewinder X1 as the bed is not 100% flat and I have no mesh leveling on it as of now. I really love PrusaSlicer, and would want to use it as the only Slicer and thats why I am suggesting something that may not be relevant for printers with mesh leveling.

The Sidewinder X1 have a high spot on the middle of the bed and there is no way of changing this as the only leveling you can do is on the corners. Because of this I have to adjust the Z to somewhere in between where I can get ok adhesion both on the corners and the middle. This results in a very close distance in the middle of the bed.
