Start and end gcode problem

I have been using Octoprint but the latest printer firmware is turning off the hotend and bed heating after 30 minutes.

I found I can add 'M530 S1' in the start gcode and 'M530 S0' in the end gcode to get around this issue. I'm going to 'Printer Settings -> Custom Gcode' and adding it there. But, every time I slice a new model the new gcode has disappeared and I have to add it with every single print.

Is there a way to store the gcode for every single print (like Cura does)?

Thanks in advance

You are saving the changes you make to the profile aren’t you ? And then selecting your new updated profile for slicing ?

RE: Start and end gcode problem

I'm surprised that the firmware is "powering down" hottend/bed during Octoprint printing.  Which firmware are you using?  I have a mk4, not a mini, but have not had that issue with any firmware version (now using 5.1).

As @Neophyl states, the only way to have PrusaSlicer always send the code is to "save as" under a new profile name after making your start/end Gcode changes.  Then you can select that profile on subsequent prints, rather than the default profile in the system bundle from Prusa.

Another thing you might try....   If the problem is only occurring when printing from Octoprint, try having Octoprint insert those Gcodes.  In the Octoprint interface, look at "Settings, Gcode Scripts".   Place your custome code in the "Before print job starts" and "After print job completes" script boxes.

Please follow up here with what worked (or didn't work), so anyone else having the same issue can be helped!

Which printer? I think M530 is not available for Prusa FW. What happens when you send M530 S1 to the printer via Octoprint terminal?

RE:

Thanks all,

I wasn't aware you could set profiles to save - I'll google that. I've been using Ender 3 with Cura (up until I bought my MK4 recently) and where I add Gcode it saves without the need for a profile 🙂

Every print I send to the printer via Octoprint, it does roughly 30 minutes print then just prints in thin air with no extrusion. After a google search a lot of people in forums are recommending to add the M530 to start and end code. But it seems this may not be my problem as when I tested it still failed about 30 minutes in. I've tried many different models to print and it does it with ALL. If I put the same exported Gcode onto the memory card they all print perfectly.

I'm stumped then as to why this is happening??
