SpaceMouse on PrusaSlicer 2.2.0
I've been using 3DConnection SpaceMouse for several months now, primarily in Fusion 360. I'm running Windows 10. Previously in PrusaSlicer 2.1.x, I noticed that SpaceMouse only functioned as zoom in & out, only using the tilt forward & back on the SpaceMouse. I was pleased to see that full SpaceMouse function would be available with PrusaSlicer 2.2.0. I did the upgrade & have been trying it out for a few days, but the SpaceMouse function does not seem to be changed or improved. Double checked the Prusa Slicer version & installation. I'm getting the other 2.2.0 functionality. Do I need to update 3DConnection drivers?
Best Answer by Vojtěch Bubník:
It seems the latest 3DConnexion driver delivers a configuration file, which is no more compatible with the 3DConnexion driver binary. It seems 3DConnexion did a mistake, they changed their binary without verifying the configs they are delivering with the driver installer. Thus if your 3DConnexion device does not work with the driver you will likely need to do the following for now:

RE: SpaceMouse on PrusaSlicer 2.2.0
Did you hit Control-M to see the configuration options?

@garth
Thanks for responding Didn't know <ctrl>M was a thing. Didn't see it in any documentation. How do you know it?
Anyway, all the settings seem to be OK but still have no effect. Tried changing them through their whole range & still no effect. What next?

Hmm. When and where do you press Ctrl-M? I've got a SpaceMouse on my Mac but haven't really mastered it yet.

<ctrl>M would be a Windows thing. Not sure the equivalent on Mac OS. Anyway, hitting <ctrl>M while Prusa Slicer 2.2.0 is open brings up the 3DConnexion Settings dialog box.

Tried updating the 3DConnexion drivers to the latest. Still no SpaceMouse function within Prusa Slicer 2.2.0.

RE: SpaceMouse on PrusaSlicer 2.2.0
When Prusa tried to add support for the spacemouse they asked for driver support from Connexion but received nothing. So they had to roll their own. As such they dont use any of the driver settings that is normal for the spacemouse. Thats why there is the Cntrl_M panel within slicer to adjust some items.
As for documentation its a bit of a shambles, you have to look through all the release notes on all the alphas, betas and rc versions on github and piece it all together.

OK, it looks like I'll be getting familiar with github. Looking at the 3DConnexion driver documentation, they didn't list Prusa as a supported platform.

RE: SpaceMouse on PrusaSlicer 2.2.0
OK, I joined GitHub & found a recent config file for 3DConnexion SpacePilot Pro. I tried it out to see if it would also work for SpaceMouse. Unfortunately no. Also found a 9-month old file for SpaceMouse, but it doesn't appear to be the right format (might be specific to Mac OS). I think I'll try Prusa support chat & see how that goes.

Sorry, should have mentioned that when I first mentioned Control-M. The Mac version is Command-M.
@burtronix, I would file a bug on GitHub. The project is prusa3d/PrusaSlicer.
RE: SpaceMouse on PrusaSlicer 2.2.0
The Ctrl+M shortcut is first documented in the final release of PS 2.2.0 under Help->Keyboard Shortkuts->Plater.
PS is communicating directly with the 3DConnexion device, not using installed drivers.
Ctrl+M also works on Linux.
Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

I suppose this issue is yours. https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/3937
As stated in the issue, we talk directly to the hardware on Windows and it may be possible, that some devices send out raw data fromat that PrusaSlicer does not understand. We may convert PrusaSlicer to use the driver in the next version, that would solve many issues.

@bubnikv
Not actually the same GitHub issue, but it really is the same SpaceMouse problem. The issues should probably be merged. His is more detailed. I haven't received any notification from GitHub.

RE: SpaceMouse on PrusaSlicer 2.2.0
I didn't know what a spacemouse was till I googled it, bloody hell, it's not cheap is it (I've owned my street legal car for three years and it cost less than one of theses). I can only assume it gives great oral sex.

Maybe you're looking at the Pro or Enterprise versions. I got the wireless mobile kit in a black Friday deal .

RE: SpaceMouse on PrusaSlicer 2.2.0
I have the same issue in Windows where after all updates (PrusaSlicer 2.2 and 3Dconnexion 10.6.5) the SpaceMouse doesn't do anything in PrusaSlicer except zoom in/out. If anyone finds the solution, can you please post? It sounds like some people have it fully working.
Thanks, Barry

did you find a solution by chance?

Look out for an old SpacePilot on eBay. I paid £40 for mine and it works perfectly with old drivers... and it has functionality (ie more buttons and a screen) than the current models.

@jweaver
Thanks. I currently have a 3dconnexion space mouse but can't get it to work.
