Slicing introduces an imperfection

I have a vertical extrusion  stl  (created with Openscad using an extrusion from a 2D circle).

The PrusaSlicer(2.2.0) produces a perfect slice up to about 130mm high (Picture2)

Above this the slicer begins to introduce an imperfection resulting in a deformity of the outer circle. (Picture 3)

This imperfection is replicable. It repeats every re-slice, after Slicer has been closed and reopened, or the .stl file is imported again.

I have tried changing the type of infill the Fill pattern, the Solid infill threshold area, to no effect.

The stl is clean as shown in picture 1.

Any ideas?

Post your stl file, needs to be zipped up for the forum to accept it.

RE: Slicing introduces an imperfection

I have recreated the stl from scratch in Openscad and now there is no imperfection on slicing. So this leads me to believe there's a problem with the STL rather than the slicer.

I had put it through Netfabb to "Repair Part" that has been excellent until now, but I suspect that was the source of the problem.

Anyway I'm sorted, so happy to close the issue.

RE: Slicing introduces an imperfection

You hang around here long enough or over on the github slicer page and when you hear the name openscad and 99% of the time the model has issues.  They look fine when loaded in but not for slicing.

Netfabb will only repair a part.  If the part is valid it wont touch it.  However that doesn't mean the part is what you want, a bit like a spell checker not finding a wrong word in a sentence because its a perfectly valid word 🙂
