Slicer STL Repair

I opened a FreeCAD STL file in Slicer 2.4.2 MacBook Pro running OS 11.6.7. Prusa Slicer indicated “Auto repaired 6 errors”. Does that mean my Prusa GCode export of the STL file should 3D print OK on the i3 MK3?

Also, I have come across some info suggesting that Prusa Slicer could be prompted to run repairs by clicking on the icon of a triangle with an exclamation point in it or selecting some menu option. Were these features related to n earlier version of the Slicer because I couldn't find the menu option and no combination of hovering over, clicking, right clicking command clicking etc. I tried did anything with the triangle icon, file name in the Expert tab of the software window or on the model itself seemed to bring up any repair options.

RE: Slicer STL Repair

It's very easy to produce wonky .stl files if you try, and even if you don't try.  😉

I've found some of the things that do it will be trying to edit objects that have chamfers/fillets without first undoing said ornamentation, or doing a boolean cut with an object that is not a true solid.

PrusaSlicer can repair some, not all, mesh errors transparently.  My experience is that if you slice it in PS and it produces a preview that looks sane, it will usually print as expected.

I've also found that Cura is, in many cases, more forgiving with wonky .stl files than is PS.
