sliced for a different printer?

I just finished assembling the prusa i3 mk3s+ and when I slice an object and with the prusa slicer with prusa i3 mk3 selected and load the file I get a "sliced for a different printer continue?" statement.  It still prints but it seems odd to be getting this error message when using both prusa printer and slicer.  Using prusa slicer 2.5.0 which was just loaded a week ago.

Thanks

RE: sliced for a different printer?

You say you built a MK3/S+, but then you say you sliced for a MK3. What if you try slicing for a MK3S & MK3S+?

You said it yourself 😉

Select "Original Prusa i3 MK3S & MK3S+" and it should be fine.
You may have to install it with "Add/Remove preset"

Prusa i3 MK3S+ FW 3.11.0 (kit dec -20), PrusaSlicer 2.6.1+win64, Fusion 360, Windows 10

RE: sliced for a different printer?

The printer wants an exact match between what its model is, and what is in the startup of the .gcode file, which is put there when the model is sliced.

Even though the MK3 and MK3S series are very similar, Prusa considers them to be 'different enough' to issue the warning.

If you do not see the MK3S listed as an option in your PrusaSlicer drop-down selections on the right of the screen, just re-run the Configuration Wizard and add it, and also de-select the MK3 (no S) unless you actually have a No-S version of the MK3 as well.

Now, if you have a special case and want to disable such warnings, you can go into the custom gcode section in the Printer Settings section and comment out the line that looks something like this:

;; M862.3 P "MK3SMMU2S" ; printer model check

The semicolon(s) at the start of the line disable it.  Just don't do that unless you have a specific reason for doing so.

And, as an aside, your username gives me the impression that you may be from Nebraska in the US.  Is that correct?  I am from the Omaha area.

Thanks for the help. I didn't have all the printers available in my list of choices and that fixed my problem.  Feel kind of dumb but I guess that is how we learn.     Yes, I am from Nebraska. Kearney actually.  I have just started 3d printing about 1 week ago. Having lots of fun but I realize I have a lot to learn.  Will probably have a lot  more questions that show my ignorance 😀.

RE: sliced for a different printer?

Welcome to the forum, Frank.  People who use that term in their handles tend to give away their geographic location.  😉

Your issue is very common, as many of the model numbers are similar enough to be confusing.

A related thing that trips up newer Prusa users is to try to print .gcode files that were sliced for a similar sounding but incompatible printer, such as trying to print something sliced for a MK2 series printer on a newer MK3 printer and it doesn't work very well.

I've disabled the printer model check on mine,  as I have models that are sliced for both the base line MK3S and the MK3S-MMU2S-single and I got tired of the beep and the extra knob press.  😉
