Slice with different infill densities in different layers

I'm trying to print an object that I think could benefit from having different infill densities in the base than in the upper layers and I wondered if there's a way to do this in PrusaSlicer. I'm thinking that the bottom 5mm or so of the object should have about a 20% infill but above that no infill is needed.

I tried using the cut tool to produce independent segments of the print and while this did let me set the infill separately after using the cut utility I wasn't able to recombine the pieces. I ultimately want this to print as a single object and not as halves to be glued together.

You can do this with modifiers. Right-click on the part in the parts list on the right side of the screen I've got some rough notes here.

tl;dr - You want do define a modifier for each change. You can specify different infill percentages for each modifier.

Hope that gets you started. Sorry, in a bit of a rush at the moment.

There is a good video on modifiers on this page: https://help.prusa3d.com/en/article/modifiers_1767

Thanks so much for showing me this. I'm a new printer and just bought my first printer in January (Prusa MK3S+). Everything I know I've taught myself as I've gone.

Thanks for the video, between you and bobstro I've got this figured out now.

You might also try Adaptive Cubic and Support Cubic infill patterns. Set the density to the highest density you want (e.g., 20%) and the slicer will vary the infill up to that amount. Adaptive Cubic will use more density at the sides and top/bottom, thinning towards the center. Support Cubic will vary vertically. This may be sufficient for your needs with less work. I've got some notes here.

If you want "reverse support" with denser lower layers, these may not work but they can be useful techniques to know about.
