SIngle-filament print via octoprint

I just added an MMU3 to my MK3S+.  I did my first few prints by slicing and exporting gcode, using the default MK3S/+MMU3 profile.  It worked perfectly when I chose the desired filament in the plater tab.  If I look at that gcode, it has a T1 (or whatever) command at the start.

Now I'm trying to do things via Octoprint, which is the way I've always controlled the printer.  What happens is that I get a "FILAMENT CHANGE" message on the LCD when it prepares to do the "intro line."  Looking at the gcode in the .octoprint/uploads directory, there's no tool (Tn) command.  The .3mf file is attached.

Check your filament sensor. on the extruder

if it sees a momentary filament out signal, it will cause this error
the filament sensor tower for the MMU3  with Mk3 printers is better and should work satisfactorily  with MMU2

Thanks, Joan.  It works fine when I print from gcode exported to an SD card, so I don't think it can be hardware.  Unless I misunderstand the relationship between the sensor and the gcode.
