Sequential Printing and Arranging Multiple Instances
When I am printing multiple instances of a single Item, the Arrange function (Keyboard Shortcut "A") does a nice job of arranging the items, but their print sequences seem somewhat random. They are certainly not arranged Left to Right, Front to Back as recommended. And with multiple instances one cannot arrange them by hand.
What I ended up doing was pasting multiples of the same item into PrusaSlicer. Then one can arrange their printing order by hand in the right hand window.
Is there a way to get Arrange to order them correctly?
Thanks,
Bob

RE: Sequential Printing and Arranging Multiple Instances
Currently arranging them by hand is the way to go, the algorithm for automatic placement is woefully lacking with no other way to describe it. Regardless of using instances of individual objects.
Good Luck

Swiss_Cheese,
Alrighty then. Thank you for the info.

BTW, that was supposed to read " instances or individual objects." not " instances of individual objects."

Yep. This still pretty much sucks. At least let the added instances be shifted manually if the programming is too hard.

You can. Simply drag and drop them in the list on the right. They change order without losing the positions on the bed.
I recommend finding the first one you want to print, drag it to the bottom of the list. Find second one and drag to the bottom. Repeat till they are arranged.

Nope. A red circle/bar appears when trying to pull one instance ahead or behind another. No change in order allowed..

Perhaps not with instances. With parts you definitely can. I’m usually doing parts, not instances, so perhaps I never tried arranging instances on the right hand list.

Of course parts can me shifted. This thread is about instances, not parts.
RE: Sequential Printing and Arranging Multiple Instances
Please forgive me if I am missing something obvious but don't the instances print front to back right to left once they're sliced, regardless of the instance name or sequence within the instances list? What is the specific thing that you want to do that the software does not allow?
I discovered this thread soon after contemplating a potentially related problem. I would love to be able to generate a sort of "grid tiling" of instances of the same part with a specified tile spacing, similar to how it's done in for example Fusion 360.
Specify:
X distance
X quantity
Y distance
Y quantity
Generate the evenly spaced grid.
