Question About Purging

When printing with multiple colors you can configure the purge volume between the extruder changes. This can help make sure your colors are not contaminated with the previous filament while also allowing for as little waste as possible.

My question is why is the purge volume of the unloaded and loaded filament always split 50/50? Would it not make sense to have the loaded filament purged longer than the unloaded? Its my understanding that the unloading purge is primarily used for ramming. Whereas the loading purge is obviously used to get the new filament ready and uncontaminated.

Given that, why is the same amount purged for a ram as it is for uncontaminating?

I would think the unload purge could, in certain situations, use less than the load purge?
