Purrfect Perimeters - Purrimeters 馃槏

https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/7349

I've submitted an idea to fix the horrible seam/perimeter issues I've seen/faced.

Just wondering if anyone has any solutions to the seam issue?

Thanks.

It isn't really an issue.聽 On anything that matters you are going to post process in any case.

There are a few people who seem to think that 3d printing will give a perfect, finished product with no further work.聽 They probably won't stay around long, these are the same folks who gave up woodwork and home decorating because proper preperation and finishing is too much effort.

Cheerio,

Thats a single loop perimeter, it鈥檚 already been implemented in super slicer as an option. It doesn鈥檛 make seams any better in my opinion though when I tried it.聽

I find the idea interesting. Yes, depending on purpose of printed object, there will always be need for post processing. But then, implementation of better algorhythm is always welcome. A little improvement here, a little there and we get overall better prints.

Cheerio,

It is for me, your experiences are not universal 👍聽

I get perfect results with Prusament, the test model I created to tune filaments for my designs shows me where filaments are likely to let me down, can turn temp up, flow up, retraction down, etc, some filaments I've found to just be a bit finicky. The best filament I've used besides Prusament was Formfutura HD Glass, but at about $50 a kg, a bit too pricy. I just ordered 50kg of eSun in 2.5kg rolls direct from china because I wanted a specific colour, only because I was thinking of sticking this hobby out for a little longer 🤗 I mean, I would have given up woodwork, but ended up becoming a carpenter... So, wonder where this new hobby is going to take me...

Ahh sweet, I'll give super slicer a crack! If you can tune the seams geometry (from square to rounded etc), and the distance between it, you should be able to tune out any issues. I've managed to fix seams with implementing my own geometry in the model, but it would be nice to be able to fix at slicing, rather than having to plan for in design.

I imagine that scheme would help if you were trying to聽 achieve a watertight print.
