PS profile for Flashforge Creator Pro 2 IDEX machine?

Hi,

I have a Prusa MK3S which I love, but I often need to make dual material prints with dissolvable filaments.  After researching the issue, I decided on  the FlashForge Creator Pro 2 IDEX machine for dual material prints, rather than trying to make the MMU2 work for dissolvables.  The FFC IDEX machine worked pretty much flawlessly right out of the box, and I'm quite happy with it.  However, I would love to  be able to use the Prusa Slicer instead of FlashPrint 5 - has anyone developed a PS2.x profile for the FFC Pro 2 IDEX machine?

TIA,

Frank

Some Progress with FlashForge Creator Pro 2 Profile, but...

So, I 've made some progress and learned some more about profiles and vendor bundles for Prusa Slicer, but I'm still not quite there yet.

After reading through the posts about the FORMBOT printer profile effort and the Prusa information at Vendor bundles and updating process · prusa3d/PrusaSlicer Wiki · GitHub, I created  a FlashForge.ini file based on the BIBO dual extruder setup, and placed it in 'C:\Users\Frank\AppData\Roaming\PrusaSlicer\vendor' on my Win 10 box.  Now when I launch PS2 I can select the FlashForge printer model in the printer drop-down list, and it appears the settings get read in from the .INI file.

However, when I try to print a very basic 20mm cube, it becomes obvious that the startup code is nowhere near correct.  The bed and extruder temps appear to be heading toward the correct values, but the printer tries to print without the correct Z position, and starts trying to  print well before the bed and/or extruder temps are reached.  Obviously I have the wrong startup code, but I'm not sure how to proceed from here.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have attached a ZIP file containing my FlashForge.ini file, a screenshot of PS2 with FlashForge Creator Pro 2 printer selected, the obviously incorrect .gcode file  produced by slicing the 20mm cube using that profile, and a working .g file produced by slicing the same model in S3D using their FlashForge Creator Pro 2 profile (FFF file).

TIA,

Frank

Did you ever solve this? I'm about to be in the same boat as you with a Creator Pro 2 and wanting to use Prusa Slicer.

No, I never did.  I went so far as to try and fork the PS code base on Github, but I could never get it to compile on my Win10 box.  I posted an issue about it but AFAICT, nothing was ever done - dead end.  I see they have updated their build instructions, so maybe I'll try it again at some point.

I did an article about getting started on my blog site, if you are interested.  I also managed to get S3D going with a profile that they supplied, and now I do all my prints in S3D.  I'd still love to get PS working with it, as then I could use PS for everything, but...

I got the Creator Pro 2 delivered yesterday and read through your posts. It was very helpful!

Would you be able to share the Prusa profile you have so far for the Creator Pro 2? I would love to help out and build upon what you've already done.

Here is the ZIP file I attached to my previous post.  However, it appears someone else has created a printer configuration for the Creator Pro 2 in the latest version of Prusa Slicer (Unfortunately I haven't been able to get anything to print using this new profile, but I am hopeful that whoever created the profile must have gotten it to work).

I have been using Prusa Slicer with my Flashforge Creator Pro II IDEX for a couple of years now, and it is working great.  See my post on my blog site for all the gory details.
