PS hanging while generating skirt

I am slicing a very simple calibration cube to print in spiral vase mode for testing extrusion. I have successfully sliced it before, but this time PS is just hanging and the status bar in the lower right corner shows "Generating skirt" with a progress bar stuck around 80%. I'm using PS 2.3, so I downloaded the beta of 2.4 and tried it - it showed an error message that said there was a tool path outside the print area and that it would take 33 days to print my 80x80x15 spiral vase.

Any idea what is going on here? Just in case it's helpful, I've attached the file I'm trying to slice. Thanks for any help!

You haven't, attached anything that is.  All files except jpg need to be zipped up for the forum to allow the file.

Ah, didn't know that. Here it is zipped up. I really don't think it's the model, though. I've sliced it before without issue.

I agree its unlikely to be the model.  Especially as I just loaded it and sliced and it took less than a second to slice (2.4beta3).  That was with a skirt turned on too.

In cases like this is far far better to save and zip up a saved project file from PS.  That is a snapshot of all the settings as well as any modifiers, placement etc you have.  Its the single best way to even try and debug issues.

You have an extrusion multiplier of zero in your filament profile.  That is well and truly 'borking' things up.  Try setting it to a realistic value and see if that fixes it for you.  It did for me.

Always happy to help 🙂  Remember the zipped up project file for next time.  Most of the regulars will ask for one and having it to start with makes it so much easier.  There are so many settings and you never know where something will be out of whack.

Had one instance where the user couldn't get any extrusion at all.  Turns out they had selected No extrusion as gcode type for their printer somehow.  They were posting all these pictures of their settings, none of which helped of course lol.  Wasn't until the project was posted that we found the culprit.

Anyway, good luck with the calibration.
