PrusaSlicer crashes with large STL files

I'm trying to slice a large STL file for a Prusa Core ONE L printer. The slicer crashes at 20% completion and closes automatically.

The following error appears in the Windows Event Viewer:

Faulting application name: prusa-slicer.exe, version: 2.9.4.0, timestamp: 0x690c6fe3
Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, timestamp: 0x00000000

I am using Windows 11 Pro with 128 GB of RAM.

RE: PrusaSlicer crashes with large STL files

I am not having an issue on my Mac.  I did slice it for the XL and Core One L.

This is a Windows error, there are lots of resources dedicated to it if you search - it even affects Windows installs and updates ... in some cases only one program is affected but even that is usually a knock-on from a bad install.

Apparently one common cause is out-of-spec memory so if you only see the error with larger files this might be a clue.

So search for Exception code: 0xc0000005 on the open web and work through the fixes.

Cheerio,

RE: PrusaSlicer crashes with large STL files

I'd check if there are BIOS/UEFI updates, because this usually is an issue with CPU or integrated memory controller. Try without power saving features but disable turbo, see if it helps.

Most memory major errors would rather end in BSOD. You could also check in Windows Events if you have any messages regarding ECC errors, if you have ECC memory.

See my GitHub and printables.com for some 3d stuff that you may like.
