PrusaSlicer 2.9.4 on ubuntu 25.10 (x86_64), truly terrible performance, unusable

Hi

I recently upgraded to prusa slicer 2.9.4 from an older version  (2.7 ? ) and now it is taking many minutes to render even a fairly small object & pinning my cpu at 600%
I can no longer navigate my sliced models, it is hogging the entire machine (CPU not ram)  and it is unusable for anything that is more than a few layers and tiny.

I am happy to help with debugging as this is not right, the older versions could feel sluggish at times but were perfectly usable even with big complex models  but in the meantime how do I downgrade back to a working version and get on with the rest of my day!!

some machine details
Ubuntu 25.10, I have tried the slicer both under gnome / wayland and Kde X11

installation via flat-pack as per instructions
CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz
Ram 32G
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 with NVIDIA drivers correctly installed and functional

Regards
Brendan

RE:

Just a little followup, some debugging later I uncovered that the 3d graphics rendering pipe-line was happening in software despite having a working driver and hardware. correcting this has restored an acceptable level of performance.  my issue was an OS issue
