Prusaslicer 2.9.3 September 12 release on Linux

Prusaslicer itself as well as the prusa3d web page

https://www.prusa3d.com/page/prusaslicer_424

lead me to believe there's a version 2.9.3 available for Linux, however they both link to a flathub page which only has version 2.9.2 available.

Is there an error or am I just too impatient and this is a sit and wait type of deal?

Best Answer by Neophyl:

Yes you are impatient 🙂  2.9.3 is released and available on github and as the files for Windows and Mac are there already compiled they are also available 'directly'.  However the distributor then has to include it for linux so you are waiting on them to do their thing.

Prusa no longer build/distribute it themselves as there are too many issues with that for linux what with all the different types and dependencies etc.

Big thread arguing about it on the github previously with lots of unhappy people.

The flatpak version was updated.

See my GitHub and printables.com for some 3d stuff that you may like.

IME flatpak adds far too many complications particularly if you are networking and need to share access ...

So a couple of releases back I tried compiling my own ... I mostly use a non mainstream Linux (Puppy) so the dependencies are a nightmare, but it worked eventually after a couple of days slog.

Then I redid the whole compile for my Raspberry Pi, another day gone but it too worked.

The GOOD NEWS:

When preparing to compile the latest release I found:  https://github.com/davidk/PrusaSlicer-ARM.AppImage/releases?after=2.2.0-rc

Where a Pi user, Davidk, is compiling current releases to AppImages for Raspberry Pi

So now I do all my slicing on Pi's, the Pi5 is fast enough that there is negligible delay and the only fault I can find is that the thumbnail images don't display on the XL screen but that's just cosmetic.

HTH.  Cheerio,

If you are on Debian or Ubuntu, you can follow the build instructions for Linux on the Prusa github.
I was able to compile the beta of 2.9.3 with gcc-15 at the beginning of this month, but on the source of the final version I got an error from the dep package GMP about "could not find a working compiler" with gcc-15. I then switched to gcc-14 and the build worked with that. If you have several versions of the gcc suite installed you can use the update-alternatives utility on Debian/Ubuntu to choose the version to be used.
