prusaslicer 2.42 issue with modifiers
So I tried to use the slicer modifier as explained on the video: add modifier cylinder on a shape cylinder:
set the infill to 5% honeycomb then: set top and botom to zero I need to set top layer to 1 to obtain the wished open pattern and I need to stop theprinting then...
strange isnt it? I will try toupdate to 2.5 to see if it works better
RE:
2.5 won't be the answer. most likely your over looking something in your setup, can you provide more information about what your trying to do?
Maybe a link or some imagery?

RE: prusaslicer 2.42 issue with modifiers
actually swiss cheese: I try to do basically the same as the video on modifier does as here:
except I try to get an open honeycomb coaster without spaceX logo... so I used a cylinder of 45 mm diameter add a modifier cylinder of 42mmdiam.. and taller centered and sink 2mm. easier than this is picture sure
RE: prusaslicer 2.42 issue with modifiers
And you want a single top layer? your going to want bridging if you have a top layer.

RE: prusaslicer 2.42 issue with modifiers
actually no. I want open but it does not work the only things that wotrks is letting1 top layer and stopping manually the printer just before thetop layer starts. I can stop it by inducing a color change...
RE: prusaslicer 2.42 issue with modifiers
Like this?
I'm having trouble understanding what your looking for.

RE: prusaslicer 2.42 issue with modifiers
the coaster is easy very basic stuff, changing the infill to honeycomb also very basic. do you have a Project file you can zip and post?

RE: prusaslicer 2.42 issue with modifiers
yes It is what I obtained however I want it completely open through with the honeycomb observable
RE: prusaslicer 2.42 issue with modifiers
So yes I change the top layer to 0 on your file..it worked.. so why???
RE: prusaslicer 2.42 issue with modifiers
and it wasset to petg
RE: prusaslicer 2.42 issue with modifiers
so it is set in your on mk3 printer and petg filament profile.. I have a prusa mini
RE: prusaslicer 2.42 issue with modifiers on prusa mini
so when I changed it to my printer back...it did not work. I still need to let 1 layer on top...
boring somehow
RE: prusaslicer 2.42 issue with modifiers
Okay, I'm clearly missing something super obvious here… But for a simple object like this, you don't even need a modifier, just set the solid layers in Print Settings->Layers and Perimeters->Horizontal shells to 0. Same result.

RE: prusaslicer 2.42 issue with modifiers
@dr_froggy_rd
Sorry I had to take care of some things here at work. as for why it worked, I set my file up properly, it has nothing to do with the filament type or what printer your using. I just happened to have my mk3 setup for PETG at the time I created to file. It has to do with the order of placement of the object, and the modifier and the properties added. normally I ask the user for a file that they created so I can address and compare, so that I may explain. You never provided such a file so I have no idea what you were doing wrong, and no way to compare what you did to how I did it. However since my file is working use that and compare them.
It should work exactly the same on the mini, only one other thing I can think for you to try. Go to Configuration/Preferences/ GUI and untick "Order object volumes by types:" then close Slicer and reopen, and see if that helps.
Good Luck

Ijust did it.. I got nothing at all: an empty ring...
RE: prusaslicer 2.42 issue with modifiers
Please post a Zipped up .3mf project file exported from PrusaSlicer, and I'll take a look and see if I can help. The .3mf file should be setup as you would when trying to print the part and will allow us to see all the settings as they pertain to the model in your project.
Note: if you do not Zip the file the forum server will not allow it to be posted.

RE: prusaslicer 2.42 issue with modifiers
done in mp but just change the file extension to 3mf manually
RE: prusaslicer 2.42 issue with modifiers
You have "only infill where needed" checked under Infill->Reducing print time. Since you don't have a top layer, no infill is needed, thus no infill. Untick it, and magically the infill appears.
