PrusaSlicer 2.3.0 final - SLA optimise orientation behaviour changed
Thanks for new release especially the fix for slow window movement.
In the previous release "optimise orientation" tilted the object which resulted in good automatically generated supports and optimal print time. In 2.3.0 the object is no longer tilted and parts now take longer to print
The release note says "Optimize orientation now orients parts flat to the print platform when configured to print directly on the platform".
How configure to not print directly on the platform and/or use previous optimisation approach?

Not sure if you have seen this github issue ? https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/5714

@neophyl
I hadn't seen that report, it matches my experience. Thanks.

Same issue here, this is very problematic and a terrible change to implement.

@dave-g-2
If you don't like the new behaviour please also post on the github issue. It was mentioned that they were going to wait for feedback on it before making any changes so the more feedback they get the more likely it is to be reverted or made an option.
RE: PrusaSlicer 2.3.0 final - SLA optimise orientation behaviour changed
I have given feedback on the github issue calling for feedback.
I am on Windows 10 - As 2.3 fixes the problem with very slow window movement and introduces some nice FDM features I have installed the latest 2.3 via the .exe but also retain access to the 2.2 version for SLA work via the zip in the previous releases on GIT.

@neophyl
Yes, I did do that.
RE: PrusaSlicer 2.3.0 final - SLA optimise orientation behaviour changed
Thanks to everyone for posting to the issue I started in the github. If you feel this behavior is worse than the prior optimization, please voice your feedback in that thread!

@layer3d-innovations
Thinking about this - not everyone has Github account and they've made the login process more complicated (they claim more secure) so you won't get as much feedback there as in user rather than developer forums.
RE: PrusaSlicer 2.3.0 final - SLA optimise orientation behaviour changed
This is even worse in 2.3.1 because now you can't optimize orientation if ANY object is off the print bed. Again, for no reason this feature just got worse.
This was supposed to be reverted in the upcoming minor release, which I assume 2.3.1 is...
RE: PrusaSlicer 2.3.0 final - SLA optimise orientation behaviour changed
I have a Prusa Mk3 which has been a great machine and the PrusaSlicer an excellent partner up to 2.2. I also have a Creality LD-002R resin printer where Prusa Slicer has improved the quality and speed of work flow and I also hoped to incorporate other printers, eg a Mendel 90, so Prusa Slicer became my sole slicer.
However 2.3 has made Prusa Slicer unusable for the resin printer workflow and it cannot coexist with v2.2 so I am having to adopt a work-around which is to retain Prusa 2.2 for resin supports, but not update it, and switch to Cura for the Prusa Mk3 printer (and others).
This is very disappointing as it appears the changes to resin support optimisation arose from a single person's preference while the clear concerns of multiple users/customers have been ignored. I will try and monitor updates to see if the situation resolves but my attention must now be on Cura rather than Prusa slicer and printer evolution.
