Prusaslicer 2.1.0 filament_settings_id keeps growing
Is there something I am missing?
I cannot find a reason for the filament_settings_id to keep track of where every imported config got it's config anywhere.
When I open Prusaslicer default filament is displayed in Print settings: 0.15mm QUALITY MK3
If I import a config from project or file if prepends the import source to it. Print settings: import source (0.15mm QUALITY MK3)
If I am working on a project and save different versions as I go along and mess up the settings and import a config from a previous project, it prepends that import source to print settings again with no end in sight. This is what a project print settings looks like ( I reload configs frequently when trying something new ):
Print settings: 2 Colour 4 truncated sequential vase spiral mode.3mf (2 Colour 5 truncated sequential vase spiral mode.3mf (manual colour change config.ini (Respect My Space By Part.3mf (RainerS Prusa i3 MK3 Multicolor.ini (_generic PLA BLAU)))))";"2 Colour 4 truncated sequential vase spiral mode.3mf (2 Colour 5 truncated sequential vase spiral mode.3mf (manual colour change config.ini (Respect My Space By Part.3mf (RainerS Prusa i3 MK3 Multicolor.ini (_generic PLA BLAU)))))"
As you can see there are even multiple entries for the same .ini file. The only information I would be interested in is the original (maybe ) and the last imported config.
Does anybody know why this is done, other than 'information"?

It has also surprised me - it quickly becomes obscure and is not really any help. What is interesting is the dependency on the original setup, not all the intermediate ones.
Maybe a Feature Request should be created to simplify the reference to previous configurations.

There already is a github issue about this. It’s been on there for at least a couple of months iirc.

I thought about it but wanted to know if there was any real use for it. I am not even sure I need to know what the original settings were since they should have been overwritten by the imported settings, except for curiosity.

I guess we were typing at same time. I can NEVER find anything on github, except pcboys's bed leveling app and just recently the bed leveling visualizer (only because I bookmarked them). I will try to find it. thanks

I think I found it, but I will have to read it a few times. Sounded like all the people involved were talking about different things. LOL, and that 3MF was storing all the imported configs and not just the current one. Scratching my head.

I think this is the one I was thinking of, https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/3238 but there could well be others.

That is the one I finally found. I got the feeling that things were not going to change though. So we will have to wait and see. Thanks for the dialog. I am going to mark this Solved.
