Prusa Slicer putting a break where there isn't any

I have an object that I'm trying to print with my Prusa, and I'm having some weird behavior from PrusaSlicer. The object is the main handle of this item: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4759805

(I hope the screenshots come through ok) As you can see from the screenshots, the stl comes in ok.  But once I try to slice it, PrusaSlicer puts a big break in the middle of the object.  I'm trying to figure out what would cause the slicer to do that.

I'd appreciate any help, because my son's been very patiently waiting for his light saber curtain rods while I try to fix this.

Thanks in advance!

The STL has hundreds of errors. Well, it's Thingiverse after all... Prusaslicer is trying to fix them but I suspect there's still many left. You can try to run it through meshmixer, blender, or microsoft's online 3D Tools website ( https://tools3d.azurewebsites.net/) to see if it can be saved.

I repaired the .stl in Meshmixer and it looks like it is slicing correctly.
