Prusa Slicer Preview gaps between layers

Hello!

As you can see in the pictures, between the layers are gaps. This is a big problem because I use the tool path for rendering the model with blender. Is there a solution to close these gaps as It would be on a real print?

Any help appreciated.

I tried the extrusion multiplier, but it didn't change anything.

I think the flow rate or extrusion multiplier doesn't even affect the preview

Before even venturing guesses, can you please upload your 3mf project file?

In Prusaslicer, go to File/Save project as, to create the 3mf file. Zip compress it (right click Compress on Mac and Win11, right click Send to/Compress on Win10) to turn it into a .zip file, which you can attach to a post on this forum. The forum software does not accept .3mf files, it has to be a .zip file.

The 3mf file contains not only the STL but also all your settings. So any suggestion will be based on data, not just hunches.

Is it only for looks, or should it also be printable?
Or, is two versions an alternative, one to print and one for looks?

Prusa i3 MK3S+ FW 3.11.0 (kit dec -20), PrusaSlicer 2.6.1+win64, Fusion 360, Windows 10

It is only for looks. So I use the export tool path feature to export the model to blender to then render how a printed result would look. If you open the file and slice it you will notice, that if you look at the sliced model, you can see through in some parts of the model.

Thanks for any help in advance !

@ralf-hirte

sense it's only for looks go to Printer settings/ Extruder 1: and change the nozzle diameter to 0.8. then go to Print settings/ Advanced /[Extrusion width] and change External perimeters: to something like 1.5mm.

Play around with it till your happy.

edit time ran out . but one more thing, if you find you need more control over  the seam placement on the object, control you wont get in vase mode, just take the model into Blender remove the polygons from the top and apply a Shell of about 2mm. then slice

Good luck

Really good tips, thanks. (works now!)

BTW, where are these artifacts on the print preview are coming from?

"awaiting moderation" is a little annoying. Therefore the account changes 🙂

There's an Echo in here. 😉

I believe those are just line brakes as slicer displays the drawing.(each line is a segmented piece) if they come though in the exported .obj you might try adjusting the G-code resolution. Print settings/ Advanced/[Slicing] G-code resolution:

You'll have to be in expert mode to see it, if you hover over it you can read a short description of it.

Obviously it cant exceed the resolution of the model itself.

Hello again!

I've to reopen this case.

Because of the large layer width, I get problems when it gets to details.

As you can see in these pictures the vases look completely different as the slicer cannot resolve this detail with 2.3mm layer width. The other picture has the settings layer width set to 0.9mm as it should be. Isn't there any other solution than using wider layer widths? I also need the renders to look accurate compared to the real 3d print.

It would be so amazing if we find a solution to this problem!
Thanks,

Philipp

Hello

Update: I tried a lot of different settings, but unfortunately none of them really worked.

And I also Updated to the latest development version of prusa slicer if this is important.

Really any help is appreciated!

Thanks,

Philipp
