Prusa Slicer 2.8.0 causing hard crashes

Hi everyone.  Is anybody else having issues with preview mode in 2.8.0 causing hard PC crashes?  I am able to work in PS without issue until I slice the model and view the preview.  It seems if the model is too complex or I try to manipulate the preview on-screen to much, my computer crashes like someone pulled the power cable.  This is a ~5 year old engineering PC that I run multiple different CAD packages on every day.

Looks more like a hardware problem in your PC, such as overheating GPU or CPU or power supply cannot handle the load and shuts down.

PrusaSlicer just generates the load with preview that is too much for your hardware to handle. You could try to do the same with other benchmarking software like Unigine or OCCT.

See my GitHub and printables.com for some 3d stuff that you may like.

Yes, I have been experiencing multiple repeated hard crashes in Prusaslicer 2.8.0, even on models I have previously sliced before with no problem.  I *highly* doubt it's  a hardware issue, but rather something going wrong in the generation process.

RE:

Same here, it starts but is very laggy and is crashing. Did a report on Github months ago but nothing happend. Support has no clue... So went down to the previous stable version.

Oh, I forgot. I am running macOS Sonoma on a MacBook Pro M1...

As an update to this, I installed the control panel app for my graphics card, and raised the base fan speed, maxed the fan speed limit, and set my graphics card cooling strategy to "aggressive" and haven't had another crash since. If I have a particularly full build plate and I manipulate the view a lot, the graphics card still gets unreasonably hot, but no more crashes. It seems 2.8.0 is significantly more demanding from a graphics standpoint than previous versions were.

I am having the same issues and my PC is a custom loop with 4090 in it. But like you said I also can't slice some things I have before.
