Profile for eSun PETG

Has anyone used the Prusament PETG profile with eSun PETG?

Does it print ok?

(Files I want to print are only currently available in bgcode format, created for Prusament PETG, so I can't select any other filament option.)

Yes, I have used eSun PETG with the Prusament PETG profile and had no problems.
But you can convert bgcode files to normal ASCII gcode with PrusaSlicer via "Convert" in the File menu. You can convert in both directions there.

It should also be pointed out that running someone else's gcode file is not a great thing to do.  While most are ok there is nothing stopping someone putting a malicious gcode file online.  It is far safer to generate your own.  It is also VERY unusual for someone to only post a gcode file, the model files are a 3mf project along with that are almost always available.
Do you have a link to the files in question ?

RE:

I guess this refers to printer parts from Prusa. They often publish the (b)gcodes way ahead of the stl files.

If so I regard that as incredibly sketchy practice.  While that removes any concern of malicious gcode files its not exactly in the spirit of open sourcing the parts is it.

Locking you down to their filament if you want to print something.  If they have the time to post the gcode they also have the time to post a copy of the project they used to generate the gcode don't they.

Certain models from Prusa itself are gcode only...

See my GitHub and printables.com for some 3d stuff that you may like.

Sad but true, I agree 100% with @neophyl it's poor practice and is even worse that the company is pushing this.

You should look for and consider alternatives, don't be strong-armed by Prusa and their poor practices.

Speak out and let them know.

Good luck

AFAIR they released certain models as gcode on purpose, for example belt tensioner, to avoid people making some horrible errors and thus damaging their hardware.

Of course certain parameters are stil beyond their control , but that way the number of those is minimized.
