Problem slicing my object
Hello
I tried to re slice a old file with 36 parts on it. The slicer generate a error message. (see picture)sorry i use french version of the software.
I add some memory to my computer From 2G to 6G with no success.
thank you
RE: Problem slicing my object
You need to be running the 64 bit version of slicer to make use of the additional memory.
RE: Problem slicing my object
will be hard as I'm using a old 32 bit computer. it was working well up to now.
RE: Problem slicing my object
If so, what changed?
The "it was working well until now" implies you are doing something different. Perhaps this is a larger model than anything you've sliced before?
Or perhaps you've upgraded to some new software that hogs memory? Open task manager or resource manage and examine how much memory is being used by your apps.
Or, reduce the part count on the platter until it slices.
A 32 bit machine is limited to 4GB, including virtual memory (which is what it was using before adding some). So the extra real memory will probably help processing speeds, but not help memory limitations. Suggest if reducing model complexity isn't an option that you upgrade to a 64 bit OS.

I did the exact same slicing on the same machine last year with slic3r. It when we'll. I did the upgrade to prusa slicer and I also did the mk3s upgrade on bolt printer. And now this big slice is not working. I need that number of parts. Actually I will need to run this 39h print a few time on bolt printer to make the number of part I need.
I may try on a 64 bit better computer but I'm not happy that it's not working anymore on 32 bit 2G machine.
RE: Problem slicing my object
If you made a gcode before, is that gcode still available?
As an option, since it worked before, just install your old Slic3r PE that has worked before. It sounds like the old part doesn't need any of the features on Prusa's latest update.
But I understand. I have 5.25" floppy disks and programs that used to work that don't any more. One was a very expensive compiler I'd really like to use today. But, it doesn't even run on 32 bit computers, it was limited to 8 bit cpus. lol.
RE: Problem slicing my object
Are those 36 objects identical?
Use software like Meshmixer to extract a single object out of your stl. After importing the new object into PrusaSlicer adjust the "number of instances". This will be way less memory expensive than those many stl objects.

Wow, what a useful comment. I realy did not thought about using last year Gcode that is in the same folder where i found the STL file...
I still have the SLic3r on this computer and yes i can use it to Slice my project.
I came across a error message and I'm reporting here a software problem to Prusa so they can solve the problem. Work on it for the next update.
I have a old Gcode. I have the original STL. I even have the original Drawing.

Yes, i don't need the Meshmixer, i have the original unique object STL file.
I will try this "instance" instead of having several copy of the same object.
This is something I'm not familiar with.
Thank you.

Wrong place for bug reports. This is a user forum.
Bug reports should go to Github.

I don't have a github account...

I have the same error message with 36 instances than with the 36 objects copy.
RE: Problem slicing my object
Hello
After posting on Github and did a few test on the computer.
The problem is a memory problem, memtest is failing. Whatever the memory module i install. So CPU or Motherboard problem.
Strangely enought os is working fine up to the moment the memory usage is around 1.8G on 3.5G available.
