Printing logo on first layer (with color change)

I need to print a logo on the first layer with a different color and I am currently doing it the following way :

  • CAO: the logo is embossed with a height = 1st layer height
  • Prusa Slicer FILE 1 : I generate a first gcode with just the 1st layer logo
  • Prusa Slicer FILE 2 : I generate a second gcode with the rest of the object without the logo
  • Prusa Slicer MERGED FILE : I merge both gcodes (with notepad) so that :
    • First layer is the logo from FILE 1
    • Color change
    • First layer (again) is the first layer of the rest of the object from FILE 2, which prints on top of the logo real first layer
    • Keeps printing the rest of the object from FILE 2.

The result is not too bad but it would be nice to be able to do that without merging manually both gcodes in a notepad, which easily results in errors (especially when printing many times the object on the printing board.

Any way to do it ?

Any better way to print a colored logo on the first layer ?

Thanks.

RE: Printing logo on first layer (with color change)

sounds complicated as you do it 🙂
What printer do you have? Makes it a bit more easy to give advice.
Also please upload your 3mf project file (zipped) here, we will have a look.

Basic answer is:
- In Prusaslicer give the printer TWO extruders, one per colour.
- Insert the object + logo and merge them.
- In right colomn set correct color to the two parts.
etcetera/ (search in this forum. You will find great explanations how to do this precisely)

We will do what we have always done. We will find hope in the impossible.
