Paint on Supports

Good day everyone.  First time poster.  I have downloaded and installed the latest PrusaSlicer program with the paint on support option.  I have a hollow cup type object that I need to print with the open side down.  I have tried various settings and will not create supports for the top.  The sides are sloped but no matter what I set for overhang parameters or even paint the spots that I want the supports they are never generated.  I have tried to attach the STL file of my object however the forum does not allow for that.  Has anyone had a similar issue and any idea how to generate the required supports.

Thanks in advance

Ray

This issue is so common I don’t need to see the project to know what the issue is. Under print settings there is an option called ‘don’t support bridges’. It will be ticked. Untick it.
If you look at your preview pic it’s coloured light blue, the key even tells you this means it’s bridging infill. As it’s bridged it doesn’t need support. Ergo it doesn’t add any, no matter what you have set or painted on.

For future reference all files need to be zipped into an archive before being attached to the forum. Also when posting issues , don’t attach just the stl, attach a saved project file (3mf) as that stores all your settings too and that is far more important in tracking down real issues.
