Optional G-Code features?

Hi everyone!

I'm a happy user of a legendary MK3/S and honestly not-so-happy user of an XL. With the XL I constantly struggle with annoying delays on printing when the "nozzle cleaning" stage fails, or the slow "Absorbing Heat" phase that sometimes is not really useful.

I have created a couple of printer profiles where I commented the whole "Nozzle cleaning" section in the G-Code so I skip that stage entirely. After all, if the nozzle is not clean I can always pre-heat and manually clean it myself. The printer does a terrible job of cleaning the nozzle and leaves specks of filament everywhere, often interfering with the forthcoming print.

I also noticed that all the probing is done with the nozzle hot. I was wondering if there was any reason for this as even with any material dilation the contact point difference would be so small that it could be ignored, thus making no difference probing either hot or cold. I've been getting a bit burnt with this as well as sometimes some filament oozes from the hot nozzle, leaving garbage everywhere! -- Waaay to messy.

So, I was thinking that all this selective comments on the G-Code, could essentially become a tickbox, like a "Cold probing" / "Nozzle cleaning" / "Absorb heat" options that could be turned on/off on command, and easily.

I control my printers often from 3 different computers, (2 mac, 1 win) -- Having to create all combos ends up being messy, as if we think on/off  (i.e. binary) for 3 options gives a total of 8 possible profiles, plus the base one, over 3 computers is a total of 24 profiles I'd need to manage, and I don't have git for this haha.

Something simple on the GUI that adds/takes some of these features would be amazing.

My infinite apologies if these are already there, but could not find them anywhere.

Cheers from the land where everything tries to kill you.

All signs that you are not drying your filament properly; the XL is very sensiive to moisture.

Cheerio,

Cheerio,

Ah yes, I forgot that the filament still retains humidity after spending 8+ hours in a dryer @ 50ºC.

Easy to point fingers when assuming the unknown, hey. I've spent hours on testing and stuffing around with the printer settings, drying filament, different filament, different brands, different batches of the same brand, different colours, etc.... all before deciding to post.

Cheerio.
