Opening .ZIP files without having to extract

Is there a way to natively open .zip files through PrusaSlicer?  I hate having to download a zip file from Thingiverse or another archive, extract it, and then open in PrusaSlicer, when I'm never going to make modifications or save that file again after it's printed.  Seems like an inefficient workflow.

Is this an OS related thing or should I add a feature request on the prusaslicer github page?

Unless somebody sliced the file for your exact printer, filament and desire settings, this isn't really practical. You generally want to open the models (STL files) in your slicer to select your printer, desired filament settings and other adjustments. Some .zip files off Thingiverse contain multiple STLs, so you also want to select the appropriate files to print.

The files are loaded into memory once you select the file.  You can open zip files through windows explorer (FYI I'm talking windows specifically here) .  When you add a file it looks for "known files" files with extensions of *.stl, *.obj, *.amf, *.xml, *.3mf, *.prusa, is it possible to allow the open explorer window to navigate zip files as if they are just folders and SELECT SPECIFIC files as if the folder were already unzipped?  I'm not talking about pulling in files that aren't going to work, I just want to be able to not have to unzip all my files because it's an unnecessary step 99% of the time I pull something off the internet.

@andrew-l37

Or simple install a browser plugin which is doing it for you.

Embedding such a feature in PS would require a special package (zip file) format and wider audience to use it. As far as I remember you can have your project as one 3mf file which is pretty close to what you want (together with browser plugin).
