Opening 3MF and comparing presets

Hi all,

When I open another maker's 3MF project, I noticed that it will modify my existing profiles (Print Settings, Filament, Printer - see screenshot.)

I discovered Window>Compare Presets - but as you can see in the screenshot, PrusaSlicer thinks the presets are the same, but they're not.

How do I open a project and also see the preset changes by the original author without having to examine each value in Edit Settings?

Thank you!

Edit: not sure why the media isn't in the post - added as attachment.

I noticed the same. Unless I'm missing something, it looks like a bug. I usually look for things in red on the settings tabs.

Hi @fuchsr,

Is compare presets new? (I only just discovered it, lol).  How do you report potential bugs?

As an alternative, I'm curious if there's a way to open a 3MF without it modifying presets, like instead of modifying, maybe adding temp ones that the author used?

Thank you!

Instead of opening a 3mf as that opens the Project (and a project consists of the object, print settings, any modifiers etc) you can use the normal import which should bring the objects in without the profiles.

Compare presets was added in the 2.4 builds.

Hi Neophyl,

Yes, normally I use import STL file - but I think when I created this topic, I was trying to gain insight into the parameters the author chose in contributing to a successful print (still learning! 😊 ) - and I figured I could take advantage of the Compare Presets to help make adjustments to my profiles.

Do you think. in this case of opening an existing 3MF, it should show me the differences - since the app seems inconsistent?
