Odd Travel Moves from Minimum Travel After Retraction Setting

Hi All

First post here, so hopefully don't immediately break any posting laws 🙂

I've got some odd travel behaviour using Prusa3D 2.1.1 (not sure of previous versions). I've got a part with a lot of sunken text, and I noticed while printing that the printer was making a LOT of travel moves to the corners of the object while outlining the text. I checked on the slicer and the moves are there, but I have no idea what the slicer is trying to accomplish by doing this... all it does for me is take up an extra 10-20 minutes of printing time and leaves blobs on the outside of the part (I have a bowden extruder).

I narrowed it down to the setting "Minimum travel after retraction". If I set this to a high value (EG 50mm instead of default 2mm) then those moves go away.

Can anyone tell me what's going on? Is it a bug or is there a good reason why this would happen? It takes so much longer to print when this happens on every layer!

Set to 50mm:

Set to 2mm default (Notice blue lines in corner are the extra travel moves I'm talking about):

Can you save a copy of your test file in prusa slicer, as a project file (File menu>Save Project As)  then if you could zip compress the resultant .3mf file, and attach the Zip Sile, to your next post,
we can then look at your settings,

regards Joan
