Need to fine tune settings efficiently

I'm a Simplify3D refugee.  I've got PrusaSlicer working on my machine, but the print quality on the model I'm starting with could use some work, mostly fine tuning retraction, cooling, bridging & the like.

The way I would do this is S3D is to plop down multiple models, and assign a slightly different process to each one, changing one parameter up or down at a time.  I'm mostly trying to get some printing on the bottom of the model to come out right, so changing settings on one model with layer-based changes (like a temperature tower) doesn't help.  I also don't need to print more than the first 6 layers or so to see if the bottom text comes out right.  I can create a custom model that's very thin, but in S3D, there is a setting where you can just tell it to stop printing at Layer N.

Is it possible to assign slightly different print settings to multiple models on the build platform?

Is there a setting someplace that can tell it to stop at a certain height?  I know I can pause it at a given layer, but I just want it to run my ending gcode script & be done.

Thanks!

It depends which parameters you want to change. If you enable sequential printing, you can position parts around the bed and use modifiers to try many settings. Other settings may require more work-arounds. I've documented how I tested various retraction setting here, for example.

Very slick!  I'll have to study your description carefully, but that sounds like it will do what I want for tuning parameters.

Now I just have to see if there is a way to stop the print after a handful of layers.  Fortunately, I'm printing my own models, so I can always edit them if need be.
