Need a bit of help please with nozzle settings.

Hello all,

I am experiencing a bit of a, probably stupid, problem.

I have an upgraded  MK3s with BMG extruder and BEAR frame. I used this for over a year in combination with PrusaSlicer.

Today, I swapped the nozzle to a E3D Nozzle X 0.3mm.

I realised  I needed to make a new printer profile. Here I only adjusted the nozzle size to 0.3mm and max layer height to 0.2 mm.

I also made a new print profile. I saved it and gave it a name "0.15 mm Bear Nozzle X 0.3 mm".

Once shutdown Prusaslicer and restarting the program, I am unable to load the print profile under the new printer profile. I only can see default and there is nothing under it. When clicking the green flag so it becomes red, I can see all profiles on the pc, including the one I made. But there is a red flag in front now, so can't be selected.

When I change to my previous BEAR printer, which had a 0.4 nozzle, or select a default MK3s, I can select the "green" print new profile I have created.

What do I miss?

0.4 to 0.3 under the print setting nozzle and It can't be used? Why.

Any help please?

Thank you.

I'm wondering if the print profiles are vanishing because of dependencies.

@bobstro as a good write up about this on his web page here:

I hope that is the problem, I don't have any other ideas.

You are most likely running into issues with dependencies in the Prusa-supplied profiles. Check out the green notes boxes on this page for more detail. In short, the Prusa profiles make extensive use of dependencies so profiles only show up with compatible printers. This started out as a handy feature, but the dependencies have become increasingly complex over time. The missing profiles are likely looking for specific settings or strings.

Your options are to either add the missing settings or strings to your own profiles, or create copies of the Prusa profiles and remove the dependency. For example, I create custom printer profiles and many of the Prusa filament profiles disappear. I find it easiest to simply select a default Prusa printer profile, then select the filament profile I'm interested in and save it with a new name and remove the dependency.

Thank you very much, my friends!

You both pointed me in the right direction.

Originally, I copied my settings from an original setting of  a 0.4 mm nozzle Prusa Print Settings. That had the next string under Print Settings / Dependencies:

printer_notes=~/.*PRINTER_VENDOR_PRUSA3D.*/ and printer_notes=~/.*PRINTER_MODEL_MK3.*/ and nozzle_diameter[0]==0.4

So what I did was change the nozzle_diameter to 0.3 in that string for the new profile. And magically, they option appears in "green".
