modifier with no perimeters still adds perimeter

I feel like i'm taking crazy pills here.

i want to add a hole on a perimeter (to add white cement inside),  i add a modifier,  zero walls/infill, still perimeters. still perimeters around the modifier.

on top works fine, on walls i can't get a simple "hole" to it.

im i missing something? i could swear in older versions this worked fine.

No it’s always been like that. It’s one of the limitations of modifiers. Your modifier has no perimeters if set to zero but the main object still does.

It’s why when you use a modifier to add perimeters around holes you get more than you expect, as you get both sets.
